Optimist
How did it all begin....
My love for sailing kicked off when I was just 7 years old, joining the junior summer training at Papercourt Sailing Club on Saturday mornings.
I started in an Optimist, and by the time I was 9, I was ready for my first real challenge - the 2017 Papercourt Open meeting.
That was just the beginning. From there, I moved on to compete in regional and then national events. It's been quite the journey!
Toppers
In 2020, I started to outgrow Opi's so made the switch to Toppers and that's when things really started to take off.
I won my first ever event at the Southern Regional Championships at Warsash Sailing Club and I got a second place at the Nationals in 2021,
But it didn't stop there, I went on to win 3 national events and even scored a 5th place at my first ever World Championships in 2022, held at the stunning Lake Garda in Italy. It's been an incredible ride!
ILCA 4
In early 2022, I started sailing the ILCA 4. I was able to bring all my racing know-how to this new boat, and it didn't take long for me to start seeing some great results. I even won the Inland National Championships in November 2022.
My consistent national results opened up international opportunities. I placed 46th in the World Championships in Greece in 2023, which was a big step for me. But the real highlight came a month later in August 2023 when I won the National Series and the National Championships, making me the No.1 in the UK.
I completed my final ILCA4 event in June 2024 at the World Championships in Portugal. I managed an incredible 7th place, a huge improvement from the previous year, and achieved the best British boy result in this event since 2005. What a journey it's been!
ILCA 6
After the summer of 2023, I fully transitioned to the ILCA 6.
My strong performance in the ILCA 4 caught the attention of the RYA youth sailing team. In September 2023, aged 15, I was the youngest sailor to join the Mens British National U19 squad, and was delighted to be was invited back again in September 2024.
2024 was a year of podium finishes for me at National events. One of the highlights was coming in Overall 2nd at the September 2024 Qualifiers at Plas Heli. I'm excited to see where this journey takes me next!
